Work Readiness and On-The-Job Training Program

Supervised work training will provide young adults with a continuation of skill building through on-the-job training. Career development, work readiness and on-the-job training will provide the disenfranchised youth the opportunity to learn a trade while earning a salary and ensure their long-term employability through work training assignments. The work readiness and on-the-job training program will provide young adults with meaningful work assignments and enhance their employability through the supervision of work habits and further development of skills. The Seniors citizen outreach (S.C.OUT) program and the Seniors from the Time Barter Service Exchange Program will provide the necessary instructors, life coaches, mentors, and program staff.

Phase I - Introduction to methods of construction (material cost and application). Overall study of modern methods and techniques in electric, construction, roofing, insulation-weatherization, landscaping, etc. Classroom time will be dedicated to carpentry instruction which is essential to working alongside senior staff professionals on actual worksites. Also included in the skill training classes will be a job safety program.

Phase II - Intensive study and skill development in construction, carpentry, electric, re-insulation and weatherization techniques, special construction and building maintenance. Work training schedules will take place at the various work sites. This portion of the work training will provide students with a continuation of skill building through on-the-job training.

By using one social problem to remedy another we;

1. Provide an innovative self-perpetuating work training/work service program beneficial to both the community and disenfranchised youth.

2. Provide 3Genx with an experienced workforce for the multi-faceted programs offered.

3. Provide young adults with access to opportunity, through career guidance and job seeking training to ensure their future stability in the job market, making them productive members of society.

4. Provide the socially and economically disadvantaged youth with a program that will allow them to earn a salary while learning a vocation.
